By smothering oxygen to remove it from fires, AFFF fire extinguishers are suitable for Class A fires involving combustible materials, and Class B flammable liquid fires. AFFF is short for Aqueous Film Forming Foam, the element responsible for not only cooling burning material, but also forming a chemical film that
acts as a bouncer between airborne oxygen and further combustion.
Since AFFF fire extinguishers are highly effective against petrol and other hazardous liquids, they’re beneficial on premises such as garages, petrol stations, and workshops. This type of foam fire extinguisher should not be used on kitchen fires or electrical fires.
AFFF fire extinguishers in our high-performance Commander, CommanderEDGE and Contempo range are all legally compliant and available in various stylish finishes. Learn more about our AFFF fire extinguishers or browse our full range below.
